What are your actions teaching your players? What is the culture within your team? What are you teaching aspiring and future NFL players?

Will you teach them to be great? To be leaders? To work hard? Will you teach them how to take the hit and keep moving forward or will you complain and give excuses… Continue reading

Oh, the Irony: The Patriots vs. the NFL, ESPN and Sports Illustrated

The NFL obviously doesn’t like to lose. Within mere days after Judge Berman’s ruling, all kinds of new lows have emerged from the depths:

  1. A misleading photo of Kraft with two other gentlemen, drinking and laughing is plopped smack under the headline ‘Patriots owner, ‘Deflategate’ judge mingle at a party. The truth? If you go to the New York gossip website Page Six who broke the story, you will see the names of those in the photo: Ron Perelmen, Robert Kraft, and Jack Welsh. No photo of the judge and Kraft exist, for the fact that they were introduced, spoke politely for a couple of minutes, and were never seen together before or since.
  2. On Tuesday…two days before the Patriots home-opening game…ESPN’s Outside the Lines, unleashes a forty page expose mixing facts with dazzling urban legends they have titled ‘Spygate to Deflategate: Inside what split the NFL and Patriots apart
  3. On the same day ESPN slammed the Patriots with a propaganda-esque style campaign fit for a John Steinbeck novel, Sports Illustrated’s article waves its magic football needle to pump more hot air into the heads of the true victims here: the general public.

The irony of all this? In a desperate attempt to smear the Patriots’ name and credibility, the NFL, ESPN, and Sport’s Illustrated, are destroying their own reputations. Continue reading

The NFL Tyrants Hiding Behind the Word Integrity

Education is a weapon whose effects depend on who holds it in his hands and at whom it is aimed. ~Joseph Stalin, former leader of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union

Joseph Stalin knows a thing or two about propaganda and shaping public opinion. Stalin didn’t get into a position of power by telling the masses the truth of his agenda. In fact, he hid behind words such as equality and fairness to the people. He shamed capitalism by telling the people how the rich exploit the poor.

If history has taught us anything, it is to always ask questions of one’s true agenda.

Those in any position of power are scariest when their agenda is not clear. Instead of honesty, these leaders hide behind positive words such as “integrity” to justify their tyranny. Roger Goodell and the front office leaders of the NFL are no exception. Continue reading

The NFL Played You With a Deflated Ball…and Won

Based on the public outcry and the reaction from the first day that “deflategate” was born, the NFL knew you wouldn’t care about the full truth of what really happened prior to, during and shortly after the AFC championship game. They knew you wanted to see Tom Brady hang and you wanted the NFL to find proof. They knew the attention wouldn’t be on whether or not they are the true enforcers of the NFL shield, standing for integrity and justice. All you wanted to know was one thing: Was Tom Brady and the Patiots guilty of deflating footballs.

The NFL has spent millions of dollars for your public opinion and you fell for it, hook, line and sinker. Continue reading

My Response to Bob Kravitz’s Apology and to the Rest of the Deflategaters

Bob Kravitz, is among the first of those who attacked the Patriots with “deflategate” to come out and publicly apologize…not for breaking the story (which he certainly has the right to do), but for failing to make it clear that his opinions about Kraft, Belichick and Brady held ground only “IF” they were found guilty.

I am a professional communicator, and as a professional communicator, I failed miserably there. I’m not one who blames the reader for a misunderstanding; it’s incumbent upon me, as a writer or broadcaster, to use my words wisely, whether in a column or a tweet. I have to wear that one. I own that one.

But that wasn’t his apology. This was his apology. Continue reading

Open Reply to That Seahawks Fan, From a Patriots, Red Sox, Bruins, Celtics (and I have the guts to admit, a bandwagon Revolution) Fan

This is in reply to Amanda’s letter. If you have not read this letter on how disappointed she was with the way the Patriots handled themselves during the parade, read it here.

To Amanda and other Seahawk Fans Who Agree With Her Sentiment: Continue reading

Patriots, This is Your Moment

There are moments in this lifetime when we are tested. No matter how great you are, there will be times you fumble and times you make that one throw you wish you could take back. There will be times that someone outsmarts you or outplays you. There will be times the opponent will come at you and tackle you down…over and over and over.

That’s not what defines you.

Great men get back up no matter how many times they’ve been tackled. Champions take mistakes and failures as challenges to become better at their craft. And those rare few that go down in history, well, they get the toughest test of all.
